Zelma Kiss, MD, Ph.D., FRCSC
Dr. Kiss completed her M.D. at the University of Ottawa and her Ph.D. at the University of Toronto. Dr. Kiss’ lab is dedicated to understanding how therapeutic electrical stimulation affects the brain and nervous system. In addition, they aim to develop a broader approach to the development and implementation of neural prostheses based on solid principles of neuroscience. Dr. Kiss leads the efforts of Project SMART with respect to Inter-Thalamic Micro-Stimulation (ITMS). Here, Dr Kiss and the ITMS team aim to develop implantable devices to stimulate regions of the brain that have suffered neurological damage and restore somatosensory perception.
