Christian Schlegel, Ph.D.

Dr. Schlegel received the Dipl. El. Ing. ETH degree from the Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1986 and 1989, respectively.  He has won numerous accolades and awards during his career including an iCORE chair at the University of Alberta and currently holds an NSERC Industrial Research Chair at Dalhousie University.  Dr. Shlegel’s research program is vast.  In the context of Project SMART, Dr. Shlegel is interested in the design and implementation of low-power and ultra-low-power wireless transceiver devices.  In collaboration with the Gaudet group, they are working to develop ultra-low power embedded recording systems to integrate into our ISMS implantable devices.
